The receiving corps of the Patriots was not too impressive and neither was their rushing attack by their running backs. This does not include Newton who turned back the clock a little in this game.
New England was not shy about keeping the ball in the hands of their quarterback. Newton carried the ball 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.
Newton looked strong, physical, and determined when he was asked to run, especially near the goal line. This is a strategy that should be implemented every week.
Newton is one of the top rushing quarterbacks of his generation. It is clear that the Patriots like his ability and will move forward with designed runs and option plays. This means Newton will be at the top of the rushing list often this season.
