The Rams and 49ers Will Score 31 Points Combined

Typically, when we think Los Angeles Rams, we think offense. When we think San Francisco 49ers, we think defense. In this week’s matchup, I see a closely contested old school football game won in the trenches. Last year, the Rams went 0-2 versus the 49ers. They lost the first game 20-7, and lost the second, 34-31.

On Sunday Night Football, the final score with be 17-14, in favor of the LA Rams. As it currently sits, ESPN has the Los Angeles Rams favored (-3.5) to win and has the over/under set at 50.5. Through 5 weeks of play, the Rams and Niners are playing great defense. The Rams are currently allowing an average of 304.2 yards per game, while the Niners are allowing 323.0 yards per game.

Keep in mind that the 49ers have been without CB Richard Sherman in the last four weeks as he was placed on the IR. But, they are well coached and outside of the Week 5 loss to Miami, they have been disciplined. Regardless, everything about this matchup is screaming low scoring game.

The Rams have the third best scoring defense in the league (18.0 per game), while the Niners have tenth best scoring defense (22.8 per game). These are two divisional teams that know each other well and will battle it out defensively on primetime.
