Aaron Donald Is Going To Have A Field Day
I know this isn’t as bold as Aaron Donald is in contention for defensive player of the year every single year. He is coming off his best game of the season against the Football Team where he had 4 sacks, 3 quarterback hits and 1 forced fumble.
The Los Angeles Rams are currently tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for most sacks (20) in the NFL. Aaron Donald leads all defensive players with 7.5 sacks. I expect another big game from Donald this weekend on primetime. So far on the year, the 49ers have had three different quarterbacks playing at some point: Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Mullens, C.J. Beathard. Combined, all 3 have been sacked 18 times.
That ranks 3rd in the NFL as Joe Burrow (22) and Carson Wentz (19) are ahead. The pressure on the quarterback means a couple things. One, it can lead to yardage loss through sacks. Second, it can lead to a force fumble with a quarterback hit. Third, it can lead to bad throws as they opposing quarterback gets rattled with the pressure. Jimmy Garoppolo struggles when the pocket collapses and Aaron Donald is going to be all over the place on Sunday.
