Lamar Bounces Back In The Biggest Way

The last few weeks have not been kind to the reigning MVP, starting back in late September with a beatdown loss to Lamar Jackson’s unofficial rival, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

After a 14-point prime time loss to Kansas City, one in which Jackson threw for just 97 yards while completing 54% of his throws, the Ravens’ quarterback looks like he’s been in a rut. The following week was a slight return to form, albeit one where Jackson needed to complete 14 passes to get a win. The week after against the Bengals, however, might have been one of the worst showings that Jackson has had since becoming a full-time starter.

But expecting someone like Jackson to be down and out for good would be a fool’s errand, especially against a defense like the Philadelphia Eagles’, a  unit ranked 24th in points allowed per game and 20th in passing yards given up.

A chunk of Jackson’s poor performance in Week 5 against the Bengals could also be chalked up to the fact that he wound up on the injury report, a factor that won’t be in play heading into Week 6, as Jackson appears to be healthy and ready to go. And when he gets on the field, he could come out swinging, looking to prove himself once again after a handful of down weeks.

This could be the week where Lamar Jackson all reminds us why we gave him the MVP last year. The Eagles have allowed a handful of high-accuracy performances from opposing quarterbacks this year, and easy throws might be exactly what Jackson needs to get back on track.
