Houston Texans Score 25+ For The First Time This Season
If the Houston Texans were a department store, someone would be requesting to speak to the manager or headquarters this very moment. There are deep-rooted internal flaws within this team, particularly in how they have a Pro Bowl quarterback, and don’t yet average 20 points per game.
Bill O’Brien has to be feeling some sort of pressure, given his mentality in Week Three’s loss to the Steelers. In the first half, they had the look of the Texans of old. They moved the ball with relative ease, scoring 21 points in the first half alone against one of the NFL’s more vaunted defenses.
And then, Bill O’Brien went into 1985 mode. From that moment on, the Texans ran a very “vanilla” offense, opting for “A-gap” runs and overly-pretty run designs. Not only was it not effective, but it took the ball out of the hands of Deshaun Watson. All told, he passed just nine times in the second half.
With the pressure on, and O’Brien’s confidence likely much higher this week against a porous defensive unit, expect a big day from Watson, and a 25+ point outing from the Texans for the first time in the post-Hopkins era.
