5 Crazy Stats For Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Over Last Two Weeks

Following their mini-bye week after playing on Thursday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense looked to get a little stagnant. They played an uncharacteristic game against the Washington Commanders, turning the ball over four times and losing on Monday Night Football. In their following game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Eagles struggled to get things going again.

However, Jalen Hurts led them on two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter of that game to not only get things back on track but snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Indianapolis led the entire game after scoring a touchdown on the opening drive until the go-ahead touchdown was scored with 1:20 remaining in the game.

That momentum has been ridden in the two following games as the Eagles haven’t stopped scoring since. Against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 they scored a season-high 40 points as Green Bay was able to keep pace despite their struggles on offense. This past weekend against the Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia scored 35 points.

During that stretch, Hurts has been playing some excellent football. His performance against the Packers and Titans over the last two weeks was a microcosm of why he is among the favorites for the MVP award this season.

He has completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 533 yards, throwing five touchdowns compared to zero interceptions. His 116.1 passer rating is first in the league in the last two weeks, while he has added 169 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

He has successfully overcome the loss of tight end Dallas Goedert, who injured his shoulder against the Commanders but is trending toward coming off of IR once first eligible. That will be a nice boost for the Eagles’ offense who has certainly missed Goedert as they just don’t have another tight end to come close to replicating what he does.

Hurts has shown this season that he is now just as capable of beating a team with his arm as he is with his legs, which wasn’t always the case. The Packers were hurt by his rushing ability, as he set a franchise record for rushing yards by a quarterback. Tennessee saw the passing improvement, as he teamed up with former Titan A.J. Brown to torch their secondary.
