5 dark-horse NFL MVP candidates for the 2020 season

Josh Allen, Bills

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen has one of the strongest arms in the NFL. The only player who can rival him honestly is Patrick Mahomes. However, Allen hasn’t put everything together just yet. However, he made big improvements between his rookie and sophomore season. I believe he will make an even greater jump in improvement from year two to year three.

When looking at Josh Allen, there appears to be a real resemblance to Brett Favre. They have the same gunslinger mentality. Allen and Favre both have rocket arms. Neither player concedes on a play, and ultimately that can be their downfall. However, when things click for Allen his ceiling is sky high. He is very mobile, throws a good deep ball, and is capable of making big plays with his rocket arm.

The worry with Allen is he can be very reckless. Sometimes it borders on carelessness. However, the Bills put a lot of faith in Allen when they went out and got a true star receiver in Stefon Diggs. With Tom Brady gone, the AFC East is wide open. With the addition of Diggs, and being a division champion, Josh Allen can make the leap into the MVP race.
