Shortened Offseason

This offseason teams have experienced less time with each other compared to years past as the NFL was in compliance to self distancing regulations due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. While every team in the NFL has to deal with the altered offseason program, this benefits a team like the Saints. Players from around the league will have less time with their prospective organizations and teammates. Payton is one of the few seasoned coaches in the NFL who is equipped to handle this.

Many key members on his offense are the same as years past. The chemistry they have together and with Payton, will make it easier to bring the new additions up to speed. On the defensive side of the spectrum, they added seasoned veterans who are more than capable of picking up a new system under these circumstances. For those veterans, limited workouts are probably favorable as they could use the extra time to rest up and keep their legs fresh for the 2020 NFL.

Inside a division that has seen much turnover on squads such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers, the Saints could catch those teams off guard as their chemistry gives them an edge against those opponents.

With all things considered, the Saints appear to have the best shot at holding up the Lombardi trophy when the 2020 NFL season is all said and done.
