5 Insane Stats For Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa This Season

The Miami Dolphins have been a streaky team all season. They started hot, winning their first three games of the season before hitting a speed bump when Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater were both dealing with concussions.

They would lose both games that Tagovailoa didn’t start and the contest against the Cincinnati Bengals in which he was forced out of the game because of another concussion. Once he returned to the lineup, Miami rattled off five consecutive victories. But, the Dolphins are now in another one of their valleys.

Miami has now lost three games in a row as they got swept on their daunting three-game road trip against the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills. A big reason for that was the inefficiency of the offense.

Miami’s run game was abysmal against the 49ers and Chargers as they gained 125 yards in the two games combined. Against Buffalo they were able to get on track, rushing for 188 yards, but the passing game was far from efficient.

Tagovailoa has had his three worst games of the season during this losing streak when it comes to completion percentage. He has completed only 49.5 percent of his passes in the last three games, including a true clunker against the Chargers in which he went 10-of-28 (35.7 completion percentage) for 145 yards and one touchdown.

Despite the recent rough stretch, Tagovailoa remains atop multiple statistics this season. As shared by NFL on CBS on Twitter, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has the highest passer rating at 107.8, best touchdown-to-interception ratio at 24-5, the highest touchdown percentage at 6.4, most yards per attempt at 8.63 and most yards per competition at 13.33.

Given how poorly he and the Dolphins have performed over this most recent stretch, it is impressive that he is still leading the league in multiple categories. These last three games represent a quarter of his season and the production has not been great. That just goes to show when Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are clicking how explosive they can really be.
