3. Josh Allen

While he has yet to record a sack thus far, Josh Allen is the leader of this defensive line. The second-year player was dealing with a calf injury last week. This week, the Jaguars will need their star defensive end to get some pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick and get a sack or two.

The Jaguars’ defensive line looks much better against the run this year. However, they have yet to get much pressure on opposing quarterbacks. That will have to change this week against Miami.

The Dolphins’ offensive line is looking better this year than last year. However, the two defensive fronts they faced were more stout against the run than dominant pass rushers. The Jaguars have two young edge rushers with a lot of promise. Allen needs to come out and give a star performance this week if he wants to truly establish himself as a true star edge rusher.

While Allen wants to be known as more than just a pass rusher, he needs to get to Fitzpatrick this week. Allen has been registering a few QB hits, but has yet to get a sack. Jacksonville’s lack of pass rush is hurting their overall defense. While obviously not all the blame falls on Allen, he is the leader and the star of the defensive front. He needs to play better as a pass rusher than he has the last two weeks.
