5 NFL head coaches who could be on the hot seat in 2020

Dan Quinn, Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have been largely underwhelming since losing a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. They made the playoffs in 2017 with a 10-6 record but are coming off back-to-back seasons that ended in missing the playoffs with a 7-9 record.

The conditions appear primed for Dan Quinn to face a difficult ‘worst-case’ scenario heading into the 2020 season. The NFC South underwent significant changes with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers trending upward.

The New Orleans Saints will likely continue to run the table in the division, meaning there could be a three-way race for an NFC Wild Card spot between the Buccaneers, Falcons, and Panthers.

If the Falcons fail to make the playoffs for a third consecutive season with all the talent on their roster, it’s difficult to justify Quinn returning as head coach beyond 2020.
