Miami Dolphins
It was an active free agency for the Miami Dolphins and that was needed after going 5-11 and finishing last in the AFC East. They made the most of their salary cap space and added more talent than most probably expected before the offseason had started.
The Dolphins came away with signings headlined by Byron Jones, Kyle Van Noy, Shaq Lawson, Jordan Howard, Elandon Roberts, and Erek Flowers. One could argue Miami overpaid to bring in some of these players, but the value of the contracts doesn’t change the fact that they improved.
All of that improvement took place before the NFL Draft even took place, which is saying something considering they had six selections in the top 100. Making the pick of Tua Tagovailoa caught the attention of many but they also added to their line on both sides of the ball and to their secondary.
It’s unclear if Tagovailoa will play in 2020 but he made it clear he’s completely healthy and would be ready if asked to play. The Dolphins may elect to be cautious in their approach at the quarterback position in 2020, but regardless, they should be a much improved team.
