The NFL offseason featured plenty of player movement and while some teams managed to improve their rosters, there were some organizations failed to do so. As a result, the standings usually feature significant year-to-year changes and 2020 will be no different.

Perhaps the greatest example of a team taking a step back in 2019 was the Los Angeles Rams. Coming off an appearance in the Super Bowl, they posted a 9-7 record in 2019 and failed to earn a playoff appearance.

Every season there are teams that didn’t experience great playoff success but regress considerably the following season. The Chargers are a prime example of this as they went 12-4 in 2018 but finished with an AFC West worst 5-11 record last season.

There are also teams receive high expectations but end up underachieving. Some viewed the Dallas Cowboys as potential contenders and were widely considered as favorites to win the NFC East but they ended up losing that honor and missing the playoffs outright.

With that being said, here are five NFL teams that will take a step backwards in 2020.
