5 reasons Jameis Winston to the Saints is a perfect fit

The New Orleans Saints lost out on retaining Teddy Bridgewater this offseason as he departed for the Carolina Panthers in free agency. To fill the role of primary backup quarterback to Drew Brees, the Saints agreed to a deal with Jameis Winston.

There was simply no longer room for Winston on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Tom Brady decided to sign with them. He seemingly waited for the Bucs’ best interest to keep the door open regarding a possible return had they missed out on Brady.

The situation with the Buccaneers didn’t end up playing out in Winston’s favor and he was left looking for a landing spot elsewhere. The focus then shifted to waiting until after the NFL Draft to determine which teams still need a quarterback to avoid implications on compensatory selections.

Despite throwing for 30 interceptions last season, it’s clear Winston is a high-level quarterback talent. He also threw for a league-leading 5,109 passing yards and added 33 passing touchdowns to go along with it. Simply put, there’s clearly a strong skill-set to work with when it comes to Winston.

With that being said, there are five reasons Jameis Winston to the Saints is a perfect fit.
