Denver still has stars on defense
Through the turmoil of the last three seasons, Denver’s defense has still played at a very high caliber. Even though some games they get exposed, that is due to being on the field so much because the Broncos’ offense is unable to sustain long drives.
For Example, last season in back to back weeks the Broncos gave up 51 points to the Eagles, and the following week gave up 41 points at home to the Patriots. Despite embarrassing performances like those, Denver finished in the top three in total yardage allowed per game.
The Broncos duo in the secondary of Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib is gone, since Talib now plays for the Los Angeles Rams, but there is still star power on this defense. In addition, Denver could possibly have the best edge pass rusher group in the NFL this season.
Of course, maybe the best sack artist in the NFL, Von Miller, is still in the prime of his career and will be coming off one edge in Denver’s 3-4 defense. While on the other side the best defensive prospects in this year draft of Bradley Chubb would be coming off the other side. Not to mention, a mix of Shaquill Barrett and Shane Ray coming in when Miller or Chubb need a breather.
Chris Harris Jr. is still one of the best cornerbacks in the entire NFL and can virtually shut down one side of the field with his coverage. If the Broncos offense can actually be efficient this year, the defense can help win some games for Denver.
