Tre’Quan Smith
The New Orleans Saints relied heavily on Michael Thomas in their passing attack last season and lacked reliable supporting cast receiving talents. They made an upgrade at the secondary receiver spot by letting Ted Ginn Jr. walk in free agency in favor of signing Emmanuel Sanders.
There is still a need for the Saints to find a reliable impact at the third receiver spot. The player best positioned to try and solidify himself in this role is Tre’Quan Smith. He is coming off a season that featured only 25 targets but still managed to record 234 yards and 5 touchdowns.
There has been plenty of flashes of potential from Smith to believe he is capable of stepping into an expanded role. If he can manage to achieve consistency doing so, the Saints’ offense could further elevate itself to a truly impressive level.
