5 sleepers to watch in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft

Jeremy Chinn

In recent years, NFL teams have been prioritizing the safety position, as they can be used in a variety of ways on defense. For the most part, Xavier McKinney and Grant Delpit are the only two safeties that have received consideration as first-round picks. However, as the NFL Draft nears, there are murmurs that Delpit could fall to the second round.

Once Delpit hears his name called, there’s going to be a couple of small-school safeties that should be on team’s radars. One of the aforementioned safeties from a small school is Jeremy Chinn out of Southern Illinois. Even though Southern Illinois is a Division I school, they aren’t a team that is going to see their games aired on ESPN.

Despite the lack of air time, Chinn was able to exhibit his uncanny play-making skills, intercepting 13 passes and forcing six fumbles in his four collegiate seasons. With the league trending toward being pass-oriented, Chinn could be a valuable asset in the second round of the NFL Draft.
