1. How Will An Injury-Riddled 49ers Team Look?

In an absolutely unforgiving Week 2, one where players from seemingly all 32 NFL teams wound up on the injury report, the 49ers were possibly hit the hardest.

Among the players who wound up hurt after the game were defensive ends Nick Bosa and Soloman Thomas, starting running back Raheem Mostert, and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo– who joined an even longer list of injured players from the San Francisco roster, featuring players like Dee Ford, Richard Sherman, George Kittle, and Dre Greenlaw.

While players like Garoppolo and Kittle might be able to take the field against the Giants on Sunday, this San Francisco team will look markedly different than the one that just won the NFC, even if the team’s two offensive stars do manage to make the game.

The former strength of the San Francisco roster, the defensive front seven, will look like a shell of it’s former self in Week 3. No Bosa, no Thomas, probably no Dee Ford and a possibly limited Dre Greenlaw. All this in addition to not having Deforest Buckner, who was traded to the Colts in the offseason.

If this 49ers’ team hopes to repeat their success from 2019 and make it back to the Super Bowl, they’ll need to adapt fast to life without their stars. Week 3 should provide a good look at what this depleted San Francisco roster’s ceiling might be in 2020.
