5 way too early predictions for the Broncos in 2021

The Denver Broncos made some moves this offseason, but there are still a lot of question marks surrounding some areas of their roster. The Broncos are surely happy to have made some great additions to their roster, and they could benefit from the additions they did make.

One of the most intriguing things to watch for the Broncos this season will be at the quarterback position. Drew Lock was expected to be the long-term franchise quarterback, but has failed to prove that he can hold that title. This offseason, Denver went out and acquired veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater from the Carolina Panthers.

No one truly knows what to expect from the Broncos this season. They are hoping to take a big step forward, but only time will tell whether or not they can accomplish that goal.

Let’s take a look at five way too early predictions for the Broncos in 2021.

5. Drew Lock Will Be Benched For Teddy Bridgewater

The first prediction I have for the Broncos is that they will bench Drew Lock in favor of Teddy Bridgewater at some point. The Broncos have been rumored to be in the mix for Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers and brought in an insurance policy in Teddy Bridgewater, so there’s obvious doubt in Drew Lock and his ability to lead the team to success.

I give it a matter of six weeks before Drew Lock will be replaced if it even takes that long. Lock could soon be looking for a new team.

4. A Top 10 Defensive Finish

The second prediction I have for the Broncos is that they will have a top 10 defense in 2021. The Broncos have always been known for their defense, but it has fallen off in recent seasons.

I think the Broncos added some great pieces to their defense in Patrick Surtain, Ronald Darby, and Kyle Fuller and they quickly put together one of the best secondaries in the NFL. That secondary with a healthy duo of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb could find themselves in the top 10 in terms of defensive rankings in the near future.

3. Denver Will Lead The NFL In Sacks

The third prediction I have for the Broncos is that they will lead the NFL in sacks. The Denver defense has always been good at getting to the quarterback, but I think they will take that to the next level this upcoming season.

The Broncos are returning Von Miller and Bradley Chubb as well as Shelby Harris and Dre’Mont Jones on the defensive line and they added some great pieces in the secondary to lock down opposing receivers. If the secondary does their job, the defensive line will get more opportunities to shine and I believe that will be the case in 2021.

2. The Broncos Will Lead The NFL In Rushing Yards

The fourth prediction I have for the Broncos is that they’ll lead the NFL in rushing yards. The Broncos have a legitimate three-headed monster in their backfield, and they can choose to punish teams on the ground considering their lack of a formidable quarterback.

The trio of Melvin Gordon, Royce Freeman, and Javonte Williams will make them nearly impossible to contain, especially since all three of them have the ability to be a number one back. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the Broncos lead the league in total rushing yards in 2021.

1. They Will Finish Third In The AFC West

The fifth and final prediction I have for the Broncos is that they will finish third in the AFC West. Denver has a lot to look forward to, but they aren’t quite on the same playing field as the Los Angeles Chargers or Kansas City Chiefs.

The Broncos could be a stronger option if they were to bring in an upgrade at the quarterback position, but only time will tell if that will be the case or not. The Broncos could be in contention in a couple years, but for the time being, I have them ending their 2021 season in the third place spot in the AFC West.
