6 NFL teams who regret passing up on drafting Aaron Rodgers

Miami Dolphins

In 2005, the Dolphins used the second overall pick on Auburn’s Ronnie Brown. While Brown did make the Pro Bowl in 2008 and recorded over 1,000 yards from scrimmage three times, he never lived up to his draft pedigree.

The Dolphins went 9-7 in 2005, and it served as one of the team’s three winning seasons over the past decade and a half. Miami did make the playoffs in 2008 and 2016 but lost in the Wild Card Round both times.

However, the past 15 years are forgettable for most Dolphins fans. The team finished either third or fourth in the AFC East ten times and only claimed the division title once.

Miami also suffered from a mix of mediocre head coaches and quarterbacks. Brian Flores is Miami’s sixth head coach since 2005, not counting two interim head coaches. The team has also featured nine different leading passers over that span.

After hiring Flores last year and drafting Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick, maybe the Dolphins are finally heading in the right direction.
