New Orleans Saints

Nothing is set at this time, but the current expectation is that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will likely retire after the upcoming season. There is the option for the Saints to roll with Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston to start off the post-Brees era, but those aren’t the only ones.

If Brees does retire after the 2020 season, the Saints could remain patient with the quarterback position for a year, assuming that Aaron Rodgers wasn’t available next offseason. If the results from either Hill or Winston underwhelmed in 2021, New Orleans would be in need of an external solution.

The timing aspect is important to take into consideration as well. If Brees elects to play for another season then the situation changes. It’s difficult to envision Winston wanting to be a backup for two years and Love would be closer to being ready to play.
