Las Vegas Raiders
The 2020 season will be important for Derek Carr in order to solidify himself as the Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback for at least the next few seasons. If he were to struggle or just appear to not be a dynamic enough passer, they could be in the market for a new option.
Even if Carr does succeed, there’s more to consider. Somewhat similar to how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved on from Jameis Winston in favor of signing Tom Brady, the Raiders could choose to do something similar to Carr if Aaron Rodgers were to be made available.
It’s important to note, Carr’s current contract isn’t done until after the 2022 season, but much of his salary isn’t guaranteed in 2021 and 2022. The Raiders would have just $2.5 million in dead money if Carr was to be waived next offseason and no dead money in 2022.
