No. 4: The Returning Quarterbacks
Andrew Luck has owned this division when he’s healthy. Last season, he wasn’t healthy and didn’t even play a single down. This year, one of the NFL’s best young quarterbacks, who at one point was seen as the best quarterback prospect coming out of college since John Elway, (both even went to Stanford) should be making his return to the gridiron.
That’s not to say he’s going to step right in and be the same dominant player, as his heavily surgically repaired shoulder is still an absolutely colossal question mark. This is amplified when you realize it’s his throwing shoulder he originally injured back in 2015. Although his past seasons show, when he’s on the field, the Colts are a playoff team. When he’s not, they may be one of the worst.
Then there’s Deshaun Watson.
Last season, Watson lit the NFL world on fire with his dynamic play, accounting for a combined 21 touchdowns (19 passing and two rushing). He and the Seahawks’ Russell Wilson duked it out in Seattle in what may have been the game of the year, at least for the regular season.
Coupled with the Texans defense, Watson made the team into a serious playoff contender. That was until he tore his ACL in practice leading up to Week 11 of the season.
This year, he’s back and so is that defense. Thus making the Texans a very interesting team to watch going forward. And maybe even a dangerous one
