Antonio Gibson Suggested As Trade Target For Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are cruising right along during the 2022 season. They are currently in first place not only in the AFC East but the entire conference, with a record of 5-1. Buffalo came into the season as the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl and have just proven oddsmakers correct with their performance on the field.

There really isn’t a hole on the team’s roster. They have suffered some injuries along the way but have plugged them up and continued winning football games. As we head into Week 8 games, the Bills have the best offense and defense in the NFL, ranking first in yardage gained, points allowed and yards allowed and second in points scored.

This is a dominant team, but they are not going to rest on their laurels. If there is an opportunity to upgrade the roster, even marginally, they are going to take it. One position that they could look to bring in some outside help is running back.

The Bills were linked to Christian McCaffrey before he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers and could still be in the market for a backfield addition. One player that could pique their interest is Antonio Gibson of the Washington Commanders.

Gibson fell out of favor in Washington over the offseason as he was overtaken by rookie Brian Robinson on the depth chart. Robinson’s unfortunate accident before the regular season, as he was shot twice, led to Gibson getting the starting role back, but it did not last long.

Robinson was back on the field in Week 5 and has been the starter ever since. Gibson’s future certainly isn’t in Washington, so the Bills could take advantage of the situation and see how much it would cost to bring him to Orchard Park.

The Memphis product would be a nice complement to Devin Singletary, providing a little more production and stability over James Cook and Zack Moss. Singletary is also going to be a free agent after the season; signed through 2023, Gibson would provide the team with some insurance in the backfield that has extensive starting experience in his career.
