Arizona Cardinals: 3 Bold Predictions for Larry Fitzgerald in 2018

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Fitzgerald Calls It Quits at the End of the Season

Larry Fitzgerald has had a sensational career. His place in the Hall of Fame is cemented. He’s been a great ambassador for the game of football. He bleeds Arizona Cardinals red. However, at the end of this season, he’ll hang up his cleats.

Fitzgerald contemplated retirement the last two offseason so we already know that the end is near in his mind. Yes, this offseason would’ve been the perfect time to retire. New coaches, new system, new quarterback. Bradford is a pretty good veteran quarterback, though. If he can just stay healthy, he’ll get the ball out to Fitzgerald. Like I said, I think the two of them develop good rapport and do some good things on the field.

The Bradford experience is temporary, however. Again, he is just a bridge quarterback. Rosen should be ready to take over in 2019. He’ll be the one to lead the Cardinals. Furthermore, some of the veterans on the roster will be gone as well. The Cardinals will be in, not a rebuild per se, but reorganization.

Fitzgerald won’t be a part of starting with a rookie quarterback (unless Bradford gets injured again). He’ll leave that to other receivers. He has a full resume (minus the Super Bowl win) and if he continues it’ll only be to pad his stats. That’s not his style.

I believe this roster is built to try to make one last hurrah for Fitzgerald. Even if they succeed and make a playoff run, the Cardinals will move on. Neither the franchise nor their fans will ever forget number 11.

I am a sports freak! I breathe sports. The thing I love almost as much as sports is debating sports! I was born and raised in Chicago so I back my Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks but I love and follow the leagues as well...
