Cardinals’ Kyler Murray Doesn’t Hold Back On 2024 Expectations

The last couple of seasons have been rough for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

The quarterback tore his ACL 11 games into the 2022 campaign and was then only able to play eight games this past year because of it.

However, during his time on the field in 2023, Murray showed flashes of his old self, which has the youngster ecstatic for the 2024 season.

“Am I excited? Hell yeah, I’m excited,” Murray said, via Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “I feel good. Just to be healthy is a blessing and to have the support of obviously your head coach and everybody around you, yes, yes for sure. I believe in what we can do.”

Murray threw for 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 65.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 89.4 in 2023. He also rushed for 244 yards and three scores.

Unlike last year, the 26-year-old has been able to enjoy a full offseason this time around.

“It’s felt like one of the best offseasons I’ve had in a long time,” Murray said. “Just being able to 1) be healthy and 2) be in touch with the guys and actually be a part of it. It just makes a difference; it makes a difference when I’m out there and we’re all getting better together. Not only on the field, but off the field, it’s been a good offseason.”

Kyler Murray Has Big Expectations For 2024

So, just what is Murray anticipating for this coming season?

Let’s just say he isn’t putting any limits on expectations for the Cardinals.

“Win the Super Bowl,” Murray said. “Every year is to win the Super Bowl, I don’t play for any other reason.”

But does Arizona actually stand any chance of making a championship run? Probably not, but it’s certainly nice that Murray is confident.

The Cardinals have never won a Super Bowl, and in five seasons with the franchise, Murray has led the team to just one playoff berth. That was during the 2021-22 campaign, when Arizona was eliminated from the Wild Card Round.

Murray made back-to-back trips to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2021.

Of course, the Cards’ lack of success throughout Murray’s tenure is hardly all his fault. The Cardinals have only made the postseason five times overall since 1999, making one Super Bowl appearance. That came in February 2009, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Arizona went just 4-13 this past season.

We’ll see if Kyler Murray can elevate the squad in a tough NFC West division come September.
