Due to their tenuous situation under center, the Atlanta Falcons have long been speculated as a potential destination for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
Well, now, the Falcons are apparently favorites to land him.
Per Action Network, DK Sportsbook has given Atlanta the best odds to trade for Fields, putting the Falcons at -130. The Pittsburgh Steelers come in second at +350.
Fields grew up in Georgia, so if he were dealt to Atlanta, he would get the chance to play for his hometown team.
The 25-year-old was asked about potentially suiting up for the Falcons during a recent appearance on The St. Brown Bros podcast, and he certainly seemed open to the idea.
“Atlanta would be tough. The only con of going back home is just people hitting my phone crazy, wanting tickets to the game,” Fields said. “I think they’ve got a lot of playmakers on the team. Of course, Bijan [Robinson]. They’ve got my boy Kyle [Pitts] there. Of course, Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver, but they definitely got some guys over there. And their defense was good this year, too.”
Fields, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, was selected by the Bears with the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
His career has largely been marked by inconsistency, although he definitely showed some flashes of brilliance this past season.
In 13 games in 2023, Fields threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.3. He also rushed for 657 yards and four scores.
Fields missed four games due to a dislocated thumb.
Chicago owns the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft and is widely expected to take USC quarterback Caleb Williams, which won’t leave any room for Fields.
That’s why many expect the Bears to trade Justin Fields in the coming weeks.
