Falcons Trade For Star Pass Rusher In This Massive Proposal

The New York Jets have a bit of a problem on their hands with edge rusher Haason Reddick. Could the Atlanta Falcons take advantage?

As of now, Reddick is holding out, and the Jets and Reddick’s camp have been unable to reach an agreement on a new deal.

New York traded for Reddick in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, and with how it is looking now, he might never play a down for the Jets.

Since Reddick has demanded a trade, the Jets will have to decide on what to do with him before the start of the season.

While trading a player who is seeking a new contract is never easy, Reddick is a very good pass rusher and could help a lot of teams, including the Jets.

Recently, Bleacher Report proposed some trades involving Reddick, one of which sent him to the Atlanta Falcons.

Here’s what they had to say about the proposed deal.

Falcons Receive: Edge Haason Reddick, 2023 Third-Round Pick

Jets Receive: CB A.J. Terrell

“Cousins will upgrade the team’s quarterback position in the immediate future, while rookie first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. will eventually take over.

While it’s a sound succession plan, the Falcons’ move to draft Penix cost them a chance at one of the draft’s top edge rushers. That’s problematic because fielding a quality pass rush has been a long-standing issue in Atlanta.

The Falcons lost top 2023 sack-producers Calais Campbell and Bud Dupree in free agency this offseason. Opting for the younger Reddick could make the most sense for the Falcons, while Atlanta could offer the Jets a player who can help them win right away. Cornerback A.J. Terrell is a reliable starter, even if his efficiency has dipped over the past few seasons”

Haason Reddick would fill a major need for the Falcons

The Falcons made a big splash this offseason by signing Kirk Cousins to be their next starting quarterback. That position has been an issue for the Falcons for a few years now, and Cousins will hopefully provide them with some stability under center.

However, the Falcons did also use their first-round pick on quarterback Michael Penix, rather than getting some help on the edge. Trading for Reddick would help solve that problem for the Falcons, as he would instantly become their best pass rusher.

While the Jets would like to have Reddick on the field for them this season, they must consider the possibility of trading him as well if he’s that unhappy. Adding Terrell would give them some more depth in the secondary, but likely wouldn’t have the potential to be an impact player like Reddick.
