Baltimore Ravens: 3 Reasons Lamar Jackson Should See Early Playing Time

The Ravens Need to Put Jackson’s Athletic Skills on Display

Jackson is a remarkable athlete. He brings up memories of Michael Vick or Randall Cunningham. He is elusive and fast. Teams have to watch out for his running ability. He has the ability to gain 500+ yards a season.

The Ravens need to put those abilities on display. Sure, he has some other things to work on, but as I said, he learns quicker by being on the field. Yes, there will be some growing pains (as there are for all rookies). If the fans see some of his dynamic play they are more willing to sign on to the process. Fans are looking for exciting play and will accept errors if they see some improvement. Again, that onus is on Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens need to get Jackson on the field. Some suggested having him play positions other than quarterback to start. That is the wrong thing to do. Playing him in another position stunts his growth. He is a quarterback and that’s the only position he should work on. You know the old saying, “If you’re good at a few things, you aren’t great at anything.”

Jackson’s time on the field should start from the start of preseason. He needs to see as many snaps as possible. If Flacco falters, Jackson, and not RGIII, should be the next man up. Let Jackson start creating the rapport with his teammates. The Baltimore Ravens can eventually win with Jackson, but they need to handle the situation well.

I am a sports freak! I breathe sports. The thing I love almost as much as sports is debating sports! I was born and raised in Chicago so I back my Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks but I love and follow the leagues as well...
