The Baltimore Ravens fell short in the playoffs yet again this season, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game this past Sunday.
The Ravens managed just 10 points in the affair, as their offense once again sputtered at the worst time of year.
This came after Baltimore finished with the NFL’s best record at 13-4 and looked thoroughly dominant during the regular season, routing contenders like the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.
However, it was made pretty evident this past weekend that the Ravens’ roster still has some issues, and those problems will need to be addressed this offseason.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox points out the main thing Baltimore needs to do in the coming months: add more playmakers on offense.
Outside of wide receiver Zay Flowers and tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, the Ravens’ offense doesn’t offer a whole lot of elite talent.
Sure, Baltimore employed Odell Beckham Jr. this year, but he is a mere shell of his former shelf. Rashod Bateman is quickly approaching bust territory. J.K. Dobbins tore his Achilles in Week 1 and will be a free agent this spring.
The Ravens obviously need to add more pieces to reach that next level, but the snag is that they will have very limited cap space this offseason.
Baltimore will either have to get very creative in moving money around, make shrewd trades or draft very well in order to substantially improve its offense heading into 2024.
Defensively, the Ravens are elite, and they boast one of the league’s most explosive weapons in Lamar Jackson (although his lack of playoff success is truly starting to become concerning). They need more offensive talent, and it’s up to the front office to find ways to add it come springtime.
