Baltimore Ravens Could Pursue Khalil Mack In NFL Offseason

Could the Baltimore Ravens make a play for Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack this offseason?

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks so.

The Chargers find themselves in a very tough salary cap situation heading into the offseason, meaning that Mack could end up being a cap casualty for the club.

According to Spotrac, Los Angeles is $44 million over the cap heading into the offseason. Cutting Mack would open up $23.3 million in cap room by itself, so as great as Mack was in 2023, there seems to be a chance that LA could part ways with the star pass rusher in the coming months.

Knox mentions the Ravens as a potential destination if that happens.

You wouldn’t think Baltimore would be starving to add a pass rusher given that it led the NFL with 60 sacks this past season, but you can never have enough defense, and the Ravens are known for consistently trying to add pieces on that side of the ball.

Mack is coming off of a spectacular campaign in which he racked up a career-high 17 sacks to go along wit 74 tackles, five forced fumbles and 10 passes defended en route to his eighth Pro Bowl selection.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Buffalo, was originally selected the Oakland Raiders with the fifth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four years of his career with the Raiders, making three trips to the Pro Bowl while earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections. He also went Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.

Mack was then traded to the Chicago Bears, where he would spend the next four seasons. There, he made three Pro Bowl appearances and notched First-Team All-Pro honors once.

The Bears traded Mack to the Chargers in March 2022.

If Los Angeles releases Khalil Mack, there will be no shortage of interested parties. The Ravens, though, would represent one of the most intriguing fits.
