The Baltimore Ravens are in need of another wide receiver, so could they try and swing a trade to acquire Chris Godwin from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports named Godwin as a player who could be available for trade between now and the NFL Draft, citing that he is entering the final year of his deal and is slated to earn $27.5 million.
Benjamin surmises that the Buccaneers may be open to replacing Godwin with a younger, cheaper option in the draft later this month.
The Ravens could trade their third-round draft pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for Godwin, giving Baltimore a terrific secondary weapon alongside of Zay Flowers while also providing the Bucs with a decent draft asset.
Of course, as Benjamin even notes, the Buccaneers actually trading Godwin seems unlikely.
Tampa Bay won the NFC South division this past season and even won a playoff game, routing the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round.
The Bucs then proceeded to re-up by re-signing quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide out Mike Evans and linebacker Lavonte David in free agency. They also slapped a franchise tag on Antoine Winfield Sr., and he seems likely to be back in the fold for the club next season.
Taking those factors into consideration, you have to think that the Buccaneers will want to give it another go with Godwin, who is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he caught 84 passes for 1,024 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
The 28-year-old has logged three straight 1,000-yard seasons and has achieved that feat four times over the last five years, topping out at 1,333 yards back in 2019.
However, if Tampa Bay feels that Chris Godwin is a bit too expensive heading into 2024, it would certainly be able to generate considerable interest in him in the coming weeks.
The Ravens would certainly represent an obvious potential landing spot, as they are in desperate need of more weapons for Lamar Jackson.
