Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Joins Tom Brady In Unique Milestone

It seems like Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson hits a new milestone every week, and most recently, he joined the exclusive company of Tom Brady.

With the Ravens’ win over the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas Day, Jackson improved to 59-17 over his first 76 starts. Since the NFL merger, there is only one other player to post such a record over that span: Brady (h/t Tim Hamm of Fan Nation).

It may seem like a rather arbitrary statistic, but anytime you are in a group of two quarterbacks and the other is Tom Brady, you’re probably doing something right.

Jackson went 23-for-35 with 252 yards and a couple of touchdowns while carrying the ball seven times for 45 yards in Baltimore’s 33-19 victory over the 49ers.

On the season overall, he has thrown for 3,357 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 66.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 97.2. In addition, he has rushed for 786 yards and five scores while averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Louisville, was selected by the Ravens with the 32nd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He began his rookie campaign as Joe Flacco’s backup but took over as the starter midway through the year and has not relinquished the job since.

Jackson has made a couple of trips to the Pro Bowl and also has a First-Team All-Pro selection under his belt. Most importantly, he won the MVP award in 2019 after totaling 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns (which led the league) and six picks while completing 66.1 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 113.3. Plus, he racked up 1,206 rushing yards—a single-season record for a quarterback—and seven scores on the ground, logging 6.9 yards per attempt.

The Pompano Beach, Fl. native has not quite matched that production since, but this year, he is once again an MVP frontrunner as he has guided the Ravens to an NFL-best 12-3 record.

Lamar Jackson and Co. will look to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs when they take on the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. Baltimore will then wrap up the regular season when it battles the Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 7.
