Bears 2020 Free Agency Target: QB Jameis Winston

While it may seem like any quarterback would be an upgrade over Trubisky next season, Winston would not be. He’s put up some very solid numbers throughout his career, but he’s a turnover machine, throwing an NFL high 30 interceptions last season.

The criticism of Trubisky is completely warranted, and the Bears have every right to search for his replacement this offseason if they chose to go that route. But, why make a lateral move by replacing Trubisky with Winston? It just doesn’t make much sense.

Maybe they could bring Winston in as someone who could potentially push Trubisky during training camp, but Winston has made it clear that he believes he’s a franchise quarterback. So, that option isn’t very realistic.

The juries still out on what the Bears plan to do at quarterback, but it’s almost a foregone conclusion that they won’t be signing Jameis Winston.
