Once heralded as one of the best tight ends in football, Jimmy Graham has become a pretty average tight end by today’s standards in recent years. During the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Graham has combined for 93 receptions for 1,083 yards and just five touchdowns.
At the height of his career, that two-year output was Graham’s average yearly output. He isn’t the same tight end he was earlier in his career, but he’ll be given another chance to prove himself as the starting tight end with the Chicago Bears this year.
After cutting Trey Burton at the start of the offseason, Graham has clearly been brought in to replace him. Burton had a pretty productive first year with the team in 2018, catching 54 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns. Nothing eye popping, but it’s respectable.
Injuries derailed Burton’s season last year and no tight end on the roster was able to step up. Burton finished 2019 with 14 receptions, which led all tight ends on the team.
