Bears Insider Reveals Dire Future Update For Justin Fields

Justin Fields, Bears

The Chicago Bears look as if they are going to have an interesting predicament on their hands this offseason. At 4-8, the chances are slim of their selection landing high enough in the draft order for the team to be in a position to select one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, they will likely be in the No. 1 spot once again.

Because of the trade they made with the Carolina Panthers in the offseason, trading the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to them, the Bears now own their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. At 1-11, the Panthers are trending toward having the No. 1 pick, which would convey to Chicago.

Will the Bears pass up on the chance to select a quarterback with the first overall pick as they did last year? In the opinion of Bears insider Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, that will not be the case this time around.

NFL News & Rumors: 2024 NFL Draft, Justin Fields, Chicago Bears Updates

According to Briggs, it seems like most signs point in one direction; selecting a quarterback at or near the top of the draft. The information was shared by JPAFootball on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As an extension of that report, it is easy to connect the dots and see that Justin Fields’ tenure with the franchise is likely coming to an end. Fields was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as Chicago made a trade with the New York Giants to acquire the No. 11 pick and select him.

The Ohio State product has shown some incredible flashes in his time as the team’s starter, but it would be hard to pass up on a top quarterback prospect again. The current regime of general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus inherited Fields, so they could look to bring in a quarterback of their own to develop.

Without a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as it was traded to acquire Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders, it does make sense to shop Fields and try recouping that selection. At the very least, the Bears should be able to land a late Day 3 selection, giving them at least four picks in the first three rounds to continue upgrading their roster.
