Trubisky Has Had Many Chances
While Patrick Mahomes is lighting the NFL world on fire and Deshaun Watson is thriving, Mitchell Trubisky is facing a real possibility of losing his starting job in 2020. It has become abundantly clear the Chicago Bears made the wrong choice with the No. 2 pick in 2017
To be fair, the Bears did post an 11-3 record during Trubisky’s 14 starts in 2018 and he showed legitimate potential as an NFL quarterback. He completed 66.6% of his 434 pass attempts for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
There was a noticeable regression in Trubisky’s production in 2019. He appeared in 15 games but found the end-zone just 17 times through the air. In big games, he missed wide-open receivers in costly fashion and quite frankly were inexcusable for a third-year quarterback.
Unless Trubisky shows unexpected signs in training camp, rolling with him as the Week 1 starter will likely end in disappointment. He seems better suited to have to step in for Foles in the event of injury or poor production from the Super Bowl champion.
