Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is only in his second season in the NFL but he has quickly become one of the best players at his position in the league. He continues to cement his standing with stellar performances when they matter most.
It is one thing to excel in the regular season, which Ja’Marr Chase does. It is another thing entirely to play well when the lights are brightest during the NFL postseason, which he has also been able to excel during.
The latest strong performance for Ja’Marr Chase came against the Buffalo Bills during the Divisional Round on Sunday afternoon. Against what had been one of the strongest defenses all season, Ja’Marr Chase was able to space in the secondary for chunk play after chunk play.
The LSU star ended the game with five receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown, which followed up a good performance during Super Wild Card Weekend against the Baltimore Ravens. In that game, Ja’Marr Chase caught nine passes for 84 yards and a score.
Performing in the postseason is nothing new for him as he was excellent last season during the team’s run to the Super Bowl as well. In fact, we haven’t seen a wide receiver perform like this ever in the postseason.
According to CBS Sports, Ja’Marr Chase now has the most postseason receiving yards in the first two seasons of a career in NFL history. His performance against the Bills puts him at 513 yards in six games, surpassing Randy Moss, who had 463 yards with the Minnesota Vikings. Third on the list is T.Y. Hilton with the Indianapolis Colts, who gained 393 yards.
Ja’Marr Chase has had the benefit of playing deeper into the postseason as he has played in six games while Moss played in four and Hilton played in three. Nonetheless, it is an impressive feat for him to accomplish as that record could stand for a while. Moss held it for 23 years before it was broken this past weekend.
