Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has accomplished more in two seasons than some players have in an entire career. He has set the league ablaze since being the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Chase caught 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 12 touchdowns. That was enough to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in addition to landing on the Pro Bowl roster and All-Pro Second Team.

He would have likely had back-to-back All-Pro seasons had he not missed five games because of an injury in Year 2. Despite playing in only 12 games, Chase still caught 87 passes for 1,046 yards and nine touchdowns. That was enough to earn him a second trip to the Pro Bowl in as many years.

So, what does the former LSU product have planned next? Chase recently revealed that he has set some lofty goals for himself as he plans on re-writing the rest of the franchise’s record book that does not yet have his name at the top.

“Cincinnati stuff. Stuff to have my name written around this whole facility,” Chase said, via the team’s website. “Every receiver record they have.”

The Bengals don’t need Chase to put up gaudy stats like that as he has plenty of help from Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. But, if he happens to get close or breaks either of those records, it likely means that Cincinnati is finding a lot of success once again on the field.

Cincinnati’s single-season receiving record was held by Chad Johnson, who finished 1,440 yards in 2007. Chase benefitted from having a 17th regular season game, as he averaged 85.6 yards per game, which is tied for sixth best in franchise history. Had he not gotten hurt in 2022, there is a chance he would have reset the record as he averaged more yards per game in Year 2 than he did in Year 2.

The single-season records that Chase has yet to take down are the receptions and touchdowns. T.J. Houshmandzadeh holds the record for receptions with 112, which was set in 2007. The record for touchdown receptions is held by Carl Pickens, who set it in 1997.
