Bills Could Be A Free Agency Landing Spot For WR Christian Kirk

The Buffalo Bills fell just short of hosting the AFC Championship game this year, losing an overtime thriller to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. While they came up short in that game, the Bills are a team that looks like they will be around a while as contenders in the AFC.

A big reason for that is their quarterback, Josh Allen. He has ascended to star status in recent seasons. He has a huge arm and gets the job done with his legs as well. Allen is a power runner given his size as he is oftentimes used as their goal-line rusher.

With him as the centerpiece of the roster, this is a team that free agents will want to join knowing they have a good chance at competing for a Super Bowl. But, if they want to remain in that tier, there is some work to be done this offseason.

One of the sneaky needs for the Bills is at wide receiver. They have a star in Stefon Diggs leading the way and an emerging player in Gabriel Davis. However, beyond them, there could be some depth issues.

Emmanuel Sanders and Isaiah McKenzie, who saw his role expand as the season went on, are both free agents. Cole Beasley is a cut candidate, as the team could save a few million dollars moving on from him.

If all three of those players depart, wide receiver becomes a pressing need. One player that CBS Sports believes should be on Buffalo’s radar as a result is Christian Kirk.

Kirk is hitting free agency at a perfect time as he is coming off a breakout season with the Arizona Cardinals. He set career-highs in receptions and yardage with 77 for 982, adding five touchdowns. His role expanded when DeAndre Hopkins went down with an injury and Kirk excelled as a deep threat out of the slot.

The Cardinals were a great fit for his skill set, but the big-armed Allen could also make the Bills a strong fit as well. The two were seen together this offseason, so this could be a match in free agency once player movement gets underway.

Adding Kirk to the mix with Diggs and Davis would give the Bills one of the best wide receiver trios in the NFL. An already explosive passing offense would get that much more dangerous with the acquisition of Kirk, who is an upgrade on both Beasley and Sanders at this point in their respective careers.
