Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass faced a crucial moment in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs when he missed a potential game-tying field goal, ultimately dashing the team’s hopes of reaching the Super Bowl.

Despite the high stakes and the cost of that missed field goal, Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott has decided against making any changes to the kicker position during the upcoming offseason.

McDermott expressed his unwavering confidence in Bass when speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

“I am confident in Tyler. I’ll start there and end there. But in between those two…yes, there are kicks we need to make. I’m very confident he’s going to do what’s necessary this offseason to (get) right.”

During the 2023 regular season, Bass displayed his kicking prowess by successfully making 24 out of 29 field goal attempts. However, his performance took a dip in the postseason, where he managed to convert only two out of five attempts.

The coaching staff is holding onto hope that Bass will rebound in the 2024 season and regain his consistency.

Nevertheless, if Bass continues to struggle, the Bills may find themselves faced with the tough decision of parting ways with him. For now, their loyalty to their kicker remains intact, as they hope it will ultimately pay off.
