Bills Predicted To Make Bold Decision With First Round Pick

The Buffalo Bills’ exit from the postseason this year was another disappointing one. After rattling off five straight victories to end the regular season and win the AFC East, the Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers during Super Wild Card Weekend.

Alas, their postseason came to an end in the Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite having a home-field advantage this time around, it wasn’t enough for Buffalo to get past their rivals from Kansas City, who are advancing to their fourth Super Bowl in five years after defeating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

A lot of factors played into the Bills coming up short against the Chiefs. Injuries certainly played a part as several key players were missing from their defense. However, the inconsistency on offense is what did in Buffalo.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: Brian Thomas Jr., Stefon Diggs, 2024 NFL Draft, Buffalo Bills Updates

Josh Allen is an all-world talent at quarterback and has his shortcomings, but the inability of the Bills’ front office to round out the passing game hurt. Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver Stefon Diggs disappeared in the second half of the season and no one else truly stepped up to take his place.

Finding a consistent, reliable No. 2 target behind Diggs is a must this offseason for the Bills. Aaron Schatz of ESPN believes that they will find what they are looking for in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

“The Bills will use their first-round pick on a wide receiver. Some possibilities include LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr., Washington’s Ja’Lynn Polk and South Carolina’s Xavier Legette,” wrote Schatz.

All of those receivers should be in play when the Bills come on the clock at No. 28. While general manager Brandon Beane has stated he is still confident Diggs can be the team’s No. 1 receiver, upgrading at wide receiver is a must. Their need for the position will grow if Gabe Davis departs in free agency.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: Brian Thomas Jr., Stefon Diggs, 2024 NFL Draft, Buffalo Bills Updates

Out of the three Schatz mentioned Thomas feels like he would be the best fit in Buffalo. He would provide the team with elite size at 6’4” and a prototypical build for a true No. 1 receiver in the NFL.

Thomas would be afforded the chance to start as the No. 2 behind Diggs, learning the ropes of being an NFL player. Eventually, he can take over as the Bills’ No. 1 option in the passing game, providing the team with another downfield, big-play threat.
