The Buffalo Bills are considered by a lot of people to be contenders in the AFC for the Super Bowl. But, there is a new contender attempting to enter the ranks in their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets.
The Jets made waves this offseason by acquiring Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers, believing that will put them in line to hang with the best of the best. That will be put to the test in Week 1 as the Bills will be traveling to take on their rivals on Monday Night Football.
Unfortunately for Buffalo, they could be without a key member of their defense. Safety Micah Hyde is dealing with a back injury that recently popped up. As a result, he will not be practicing on Wednesday. Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott said that they will be taking things day by day.
That is a tough blow for Hyde, who has been looking forward to getting back out on the field. He missed the final 15 games of the 2022 season after suffering a neck injury and was itching to get back out onto the field. That return could now be delayed by the back injury he is now dealing with.
On a positive note, Hyde was spotted on the practice field at some point during the day. Could this be some gamesmanship from the Bills to try and gain an edge over the Jets? A simple miscommunication could have occurred, but if Hyde was said to be out and practiced anyway, they would be hearing from the league in some capacity.
If Hyde is actually injured and his status for Monday night is in jeopardy, that is a huge blow. The Bills are going to need all hands on deck to slow down a revamped Jets offense that is looking to make some noise early in the season.
