The Buffalo Bills escaped with a victory on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions, 28-25 as Tyler Bass kicked a game-winning field goal with two seconds remaining in the game. It was the Bills’ second victory in Detroit in five days as they won there on Sunday afternoon over the Cleveland Browns after their home game was moved because of a bad snowstorm.

Despite picking up the win over the Lions, it was hard for the Bills to not come away feeling as if they had lost the game. That is because star pass rusher, Von Miller, was injured in the game and there was some worry that it was serious.

Miller injured his knee early in the game as he played only 20 snaps in the game. An ACL tear was the fear, but luckily, that was not the case. Miller has already been announced out for the team’s game this week against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football, but he is hopeful to return in Week 14 against the New York Jets. He provided an update on his status during a recent episode of The VonCast.

“I did get hurt,” Miller said. “You know, the news is not the best of news. But it’s definitely not the worst of news. It’s kind of like in the middle.”

“I didn’t tear my ACL. That was the huge part of it. But I do have some lateral meniscus damage, and it’s going to have to be addressed. But I do feel like I can play through that. So I’m going to wait a little, let the swelling go down for about 7-10 days and hopefully right before the Jets game, I will be back.”

That is certainly an encouraging development as an ACL tear would have meant Miller would be sidelined for the remainder of this season and a chunk of the 2023 campaign. The mini-bye week, as the Bills will go 10 days between games, 17 for Miller, should provide him enough time to get back on the field.

It will be worth keeping an eye on as Miller is an integral part of the Bills’ defensive scheme as he leads the team with 8.0 sacks. His ability to produce could be hampered as it sounds like he will eventually have to undergo surgery.

But, for now, he plans to tough things out and get back out on the field as soon as possible. But, the Bills need him for what they hope is a deep playoff run, so if sitting him a little longer in the regular season will help him be closer to 100 percent in January, they will seriously consider that route.
