No. 2: Case Keenum Throws for 300-Plus Yards
Last season, Keenum had a career year with the Vikings. Keenum threw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. These were all career bests (when starting in more than 10 games).
This season, the Broncos are hoping for that same production.
Keenum will be the hopeful QB that the Broncos have been needing since Manning’s departure a couple of years ago. Since then, they’ve lacked an aerial attack. Now with Keenum, if he can perform pretty well, he has a few weapons at his disposal to help improve the passing game.
Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders head a decent group of wide receivers. Thomas and Sanders have displayed their talents for years now. The Broncos drafted Courtland Sutton in the second round of this year’s draft. Sutton is a tall wideout who can be a nice threat in the red zone.
Add that to Thomas and Sanders, you got a group who can be dangerous with Keenum.
The Seahawks secondary lost a lot of firepower this off-season. Sherman and Chancellor are gone, leaving guys who lack experience to fill in for them. Shaquill Griffin will likely start alongside Dontae Johnson. Griffin is only in his second season, while Johnson is in his fifth. Johnson has started in just 22 games, while Griffin has started in 11.
I wouldn’t feel too comfortable with my secondary if I were the Seahawks.
Keenum and the Broncos passing attack should be able to take advantage of the Seahawks’ lack of talent in their secondary. Last year, Keenum threw for 300-plus yards just twice. I say he gets that done in Week 1 to lead the Broncos to victory.
