The Broncos quietly have a solid linebacking corps. The Broncos have two solid linebackers in Josey Jewell and Todd Davis, but the one who deserves the most recognition is Alexander Johnson. This past season was Johnsons first, and he showed that he is already one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Davis and Jewell are both solid linebackers, but they both struggle in coverage. Denver would be well served to grab a quality coverage linebacker.

One linebacker who should be in the best linebacker conversation, but often is left out, is Lavonte David. David is a quality run defender like most traditional linebackers, but what separates David from other linebackers in the NFL, is his coverage ability.

Lavonte Davids coverage skills are some of the best in the NFL. David is often used in coverage roles that you don’t see linebackers used in very often. David is often able to switch off of different players in coverage in the same play, looking like he is a madden player.

Not only is David a very talented player, but he would fit well with Denver. Denver has a quality linebacker in Alexander Johnson, but with the 3-4 defensive front that Denver uses they often use Josey Jewell and Todd Davis. Davis and Jewell are solid linebackers, but their coverage skills greatly lack in comparison to Lavonte David. Adding David alongside Johnson would give the Broncos one of the best linebacking groups in the NFL.
