Josh Norman
For a long time, the Broncos had one of the most underrated cornerbacks in the entire NFL in Chris Harris Jr. Harris Jr was one of the best slot cornerbacks, as well as cornerbacks overall in the NFL. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Chris Harris Jr left them for a division rival in the Los Angeles Chargers.
At one point in his career, Josh Norman was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Norman was one of the defensive leaders on the 2015 Panthers team that made it to the Super Bowl. After Normans great 2015 season, the Panthers let Norman go, and he found himself on the Washington Redksins the next season
In Washington, Norman certainly was not what he was in Carolina. Norman played out his contract with Washington, and now finds himself in Buffalo. Norman will likely finish this season with Buffalo, but the fit in Denver would still be a good one.
In Norman’s prime years, his defensive coordinator was Sean McDermott, who is now the Bills head coach. McDermott mainly uses different zone coverage schemes in his defense, and in that scheme is where Norman excelled. Norman looked great with his eyes on the ball and eyes forward while with McDermott, and with Fangio he could get a similar style of play.
While Fangio does not use zone coverage as much as McDermott, he still uses it a good amount. One thing that Fangio does well is disguising his different coverages. Norman can survive in man coverage, but zone coverage is where he will excel, and in with Fangio’s ability to disguise his different coverages, it will help Norman in his older age while still allowing him to excel.
