Broncos: 3 reasons Denver already has enough talent around Drew Lock

What does making it work look like for the Denver Broncos? Well, it’s probably not winning the Super Bowl or even stealing the AFC West title away from the Kansas City Chiefs this season. The Broncos went 7-9 last year and with the new hope that Drew Lock brings, they need to start taking steps in an upward trajectory.

Happiness is based on expectations and the best the Broncos can realistically expect in the 2020 season is a Wild Card spot in the AFC postseason. Turning a seven win season into a nine win season and seeing what happens is the definition of things working out this year.

Lock turned the Broncos’ 2019 campaign from frustrating to hopeful. He went 4-1 as a starter, which was hard to see coming. In a small sample size, Lock showed positive signs. He had a fairly healthy completion percentage. Seven touchdowns and three picks isn’t too shabby either, so there is something to work with. That’s what we learned.

We didn’t find out that Lock is for real, we found out that this whole operation can work with him under center. We still don’t know how good he is. Most likely, he will end up being comparable to Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. He won’t be elite, he won’t be bad. He’ll make big plays and will have flashes of absolute brilliance but will operate in the just really solid grouping of quarterbacks.

The key is that it looks like it will work. It’s not about how good Lock is, it’s what the Broncos have put around him. It’s enough to make things work.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons the Denver Broncos have enough talent around Drew Lock entering the 2020 NFL season.
