Strength: Pass Rush
Of course, a defense that has Von Miller will have an elite pass rush. The scary part is they got even better in that area by drafting Bradley Chubb in the first round. Miller has been one of the most consistent sack artists, recording 10 or more sacks in six of his seven seasons.
Miller will likely tack another year onto that this season.
Chubb was the fifth overall pick in this years NFL Draft. The fifth pick was definitely warranted, as he dominated in his last two seasons at North Carolina State. In those two years, Chubb racked up 128 tackles, 20 sacks, 44 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. He definitely wreaked havoc on defenses in the ACC.
You add this type of production with Miller, you’re looking at an unstoppable duo of pass rushers.
The Broncos hold a lot of depth at their edge-rusher positions. Behind Miller, you have EDGE Shane Ray. Ray was the Broncos first-round pick back in 2015. Since 2015, Ray has had his struggles, coming up with just 13 sacks in three years. He’s still a talented pass-rusher, though, especially as a rotational guy behind Miller.
On the other side, backing up Chubb is Shaquil Barrett. Barrett has been with the Broncos for a few years now, starting in nine games last year. He hasn’t had big numbers, but you can see the talent he possesses. Barrett could have a larger role this year after showing his talent last season, even if it is coming off the bench. The Broncos won a Super Bowl in 2016 because of their elite pass rush, we could see that return this year.
