Broncos: What to expect from RB Melvin Gordon in 2020

Melvin Gordon made a big switch this offseason with the AFC West, moving from the Los Angeles Chargers to the Denver Broncos in free agency. It was a move that surprised fans around the league, especially with the Broncos already having Phillip Lindsay as their starting running back.

It has been clear over the past few years that John Elway will do anything he can that might help the Broncos get back into contention. Ever since Peyton Manning retired, Denver has struggled to regain their dominance. Elway clearly thinks that Gordon could be a step to getting back to that level.

Last season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Gordon held out for a good chunk of the season over his contract. He ended up playing in 12 games on the year, carrying the football 162 times for 612 yards and eight touchdowns. Gordon also caught 42 passes for 296 yards and another touchdown.

Making the move to sign with the Broncos shows that Gordon wants some level of revenge on the Chargers. He felt that they handled his contract situation wrong and wanted to stay in the same division. It will be an interesting and fun game when the Chargers and Broncos meet for the first time in 2020.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at what to expect from Melvin Gordon in his first season with the Broncos.
